Lying

Lying is a statement known by its maker to be untrue and made in order to deceive.

Scripture forbids lying, passing on false reports, and testifying falsely.

Lying is viewed as a sin and is considered an abomination to God. God hates lies.

Remember who is the Father of Lies? Satan.

God never lies.

We are to be honest in word and deed.

Dishonesty and misrepresentation leads to suspicion, mistrust, and hatred. It ultimately destroys relationships.

Our relationships can only grow and thrive if we are willing to tell the truth, which is the only real basis for trust  between people.

Gossip and slander can fall into the “Do not bear false witness” category.
